About Us
At Read the Room, our sole purpose is to increase positive representation for children of color and showcase beautiful diversity to all readers. We chose the name Read the Room to show the positivity in the phrase, and reflect the inclusivity and awareness of our business. Each of our books will focus on a different character and culture, told through a fun and adventurous story. In the Mini Ville series, each story represents the experiences of a friend from our (the author and illustrator's) hometown. Even if we can positively affect one child's view of their own culture and other's, Read the Room will have accomplished our goal. 30% of our proceeds will be donated to PCRF, giving back to the communities we write our books for.

As a South Asian girl, I grew up with stereotypical and poor representation of my culture in children's media. Reading was always my first love, and I want the next generation of children of color to have the representation they deserve. With this initiative, I hope to reach children of all backgrounds and expose them to the beauty of diversity through fun books.
Growing up in a diverse town, illustrating characters of different backgrounds was never new to me. I realize that it's often not so in the media, and it gives me great joy to bring diverse stories to life through my drawing.
